Message	in mine is that they are vented to atmosphere instead of back to the accordion so I removed the restrictor. The hoses from the intake cover have a restrictor, I can see it creating pressure if the restrictor from that side is plugged and someone holding the dipstick in place manually. I think personally, your engine was weak already due to age or whatever reason and during the tuning run they ask too much from the old engine.
